The North Carolina Department of Revenue is seeking a Data Quality Analyst to support business intelligence and compliance initiatives. The Data Quality Analyst works with internal and external IT professionals to support customer business intelligence and data analysis initiatives through data gathering, cleansing, loading, quality analysis, and query and report development. The work to be performed is identified and prioritized by the Department's business divisions and is implemented using structured project and software development lifecycle methodologies within the ITIL framework.

The Data Quality Analyst's primary function is to Extract, Transform, and Load (ETL) data into the Department's data warehouse and other applications as well as perform data cleansing and standardization, data quality analysis, data monitoring, and ensure adherence to data quality standards. The position participates in end-to-end customer requirements gathering, development and implementation, including identifying data analysis needs as well as processing and exploring system data. The position identifies and document data lineage, transformations, and dependencies as well as determine root cause of data quality issues. The position develops and implements standard data quality and governance procedures, including introducing appropriate reporting capabilities required to understand and manage the quality, storage, and use of information. The position provides daily operational support to customers and other IT initiatives as needed.

The position works within the PW/SAS Development Team. The team's primary purpose is to support business intelligence and data analytics initiatives for the Agency. The goal of the team is to host, standardize, transform, and deliver data for analysis and reporting from virtually any data source. The team provides analysis, development, testing, implementation, and ongoing support for the Agency's data warehouse and SAS applications. The team provides reports and identifies statistical exceptions through a Web-based report management and delivery system for all Divisions within the Department of Revenue.

  • Ability to maintain a high level of technical skill or knowledge in the area of data integration, data quality, and reporting capabilities.
  • Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

    Bachelor's degree with some computer related coursework from an appropriately accredited university; or Associate's Degree in Computer Programming from an appropriately accredited university; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

    MANAGEMENT PREFERENCE:

  • 3+ years of experience performing quantitative analysis using an ETL tool or SAS business intelligence tools
  • Experience with Tableau
  • Development and support experience in SAS, Windows, or UNIX environment.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of programming languages, e.g. SAS, SQL, Oracle, JAVA.
  • Experience administering other database platforms such as Oracle, MSSQL, and MYSQL.
  • ITIL Foundations certification.
