Description of Work

This is a Health Care Technician I position at Piedmont Correctional Institution located in Salisbury, N.C. (Rowan County), which is a Medium/Minimum male prison facility Housing 1042 inmates. The Health Care Technician I will participate in the delivery of health services for the inmate population in accordance with the NC Nurse Practice Act and DPS Prisons Health Services Policy and Procedure. This position will be responsible for all aspects of medication administration to include transcribing orders, ordering and storing medications and supplies, and administering medication and treatments Documentation of medication administration and treatment, observing and reporting medication effectiveness,side effects, and will reinforce patient education provided by the nurse and/or physician. This position will provide additional nursing skills, as declared by the licensure.

Therefore, you must demonstrate through documented experience or provide supporting information within the body of your application to demonstrate your possession of ALL KSAs listed.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of nurse aid skills and techniques in caring for medical and/or mentally ill patients
  • Demonstrated experience in personal care and treatment of patients
  • Demonstrated experience observing patients and compiling reports
  • Documented experience in the administration of medication
  • Management Preference: Registered with the NCBON as a Nursing Assistant II
    Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

    High school or General Educational Development diploma; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Special Condition for Continued Employment As required, listing as a Nurse Aide I by the North Carolina Division of Health Service Regulation. As applicable, listing as a Nurse Aide II by the North Carolina Board of Nursing. As required by the Department of Public Safety, must be eligible for certification by the North Carolina Criminal Justice Training and Standards Counsel. As applicable, North Carolina Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) certification.
