This position is located at Pender CorrectionalInstitution in Burgaw, NC.
Responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to maintenance and supervision of the electrical system for a medium security correctional facility.Knowledge of standard practices and method of the electrical trade is a must.Position performs a variety of tasks at or near the journey level in another trade such as carpentry, masonry, or plumbing; essential job functions include the ability to supervise semi/unskilled inmates, comprehend and abide by policies, post orders, or other directives.Effectively communicate with others, and conduct visual surveillance of male inmates assigned to the maintenance section.This position requires the ability to plan and organize various jobs and to comply with all current State and local codes. Responsible for tool accountability and instructing inmates in the safe and proper use of equipment. Locate and correct defects in electrical systems and equipment.Read and Work from blueprints and sketches.Train apprentices in the electrical trade. Follow oral and written instructions. Must have knowledgeable skills in the use and care of tools of the trade.

Considerable knowledge of the standard practices and methods of the electrical trade
High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and two years of experience in the construction or repair of secondary electrical systems; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Based on the nature of work performed, may require appropriate licensure by the governing board or commission.
